After some delays, your Negotiating Team has signed the new Collective Agreement. Members will only be receiving a copy of the changes and updates in the new contract as it will expire in about 6 – 7 months (June 30, 2012). We agreed it is unnecessary to print new copies of the entire agreement for such a short period of time. Please review the last copy on our website. The updates will be added to this copy as soon as possible. www.cupe3260.ca . New copies will be in place for the next round. The new rate of pay is set to be on your December 22n pay. Due to some payroll challenges, including the Christmas season, the retroactive pay is scheduled to be in February 02nd, 2012. As always we have requested a separate cheque, however due to payroll system this may not be possible. As agreed on during the ratification process the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will also come into effect in the New Year. A memo will be sent out shortly from the pension committee with information on this. We thank you for your patience during this long period. If you have any further questions, thoughts or concerns, please contact your area Negotiations representative or area VP. The committee wishes to thank all the members for their input into the process and for their support through all of it.

November 29, 2011 CETA Fast Facts for CUPE Members

CETA (Comprehensive European Trade Agreement) Fast Facts for CUPE Members

* Our Federal Government is currently negotiating a Trade deal with Europe
CUPE has many concerns regarding this agreement.

* This deal is being negotiated behind closed doors.

* For the first time The Federal Government is negotiating a deal that will tie the hands of our provincial and municipal governments.

* All levels of Government can be sued if they decide to use local contractors instead of an interested Multinational Corporation.

* This will increase privatization of Public Services.

* Increase pharmaceutical drug costs to Canadians by 2.8 Billion dollars a year. (10 Million dollar increase for Islanders)

* We could lose control of our municipal water systems to Multinational Corporations.

CUPE Members and all Islanders should be concerned about this deal. Join our National President on December 8th to learn more. 7pm at the Delta Charlottetown.

Thanks
Lori MacKay
President CUPE PEI
